Brian Gross Fine Art
The Brian Gross Fine Art gallery in San Francisco focuses on representing abstract and reductive paintings, provocative exhibitions of sculpture, multi-media installations and conceptual work. The work is from both established and emerging artists.
Launched in 1990, the gallery is located in San Francisco’s premier gallery building at 49 Geary Street, in close proximity to Union Square. It is quite a small gallery but makes up for it in sophistication. Unlike most galleries that showcase several exhibits at once, Brian Gross generally dedicates its space to one artist at a time. Mounting only nine exhibits each year, this gallery showcases artists of innovative and exceptional quality.
We recommend visiting Brian Gross Fine Art’s website before visiting, to look at what artist will be on display and to ensure it is of interest to you. We really enjoyed attending Robert Arneson from the 60’s exhibit that featured over 20 works made during Arneson’s formative years in the 1960’s and examined early figurative and abstract expressionistic works, explorations in porcelain and bronze, conceptual works, painting, and his transformation of every day objects with the humor and irreverence that became his hallmark.
