Gallery XIV
Gallery XIV art gallery in Boston is an exciting gallery that is determined to represent what contemporary art has to offer the world. The artists range from emerging to established.
The gallery runs about 3 to 5 exhibits a year either focused on the individual or a theme. One of the ones we find really exciting is the Canvasation Project. There is some information on this on the Gallery XIV website – all credit Gallery XIV:
The Canvasation Project engages small groups of artists to create large paintings collaboratively while filmmakers capture their creative process. Individual and collective notions of artistic interpretation, visual language, and communication are filmed to explore the artist’s individual method of creative thinking and problem solving.
The first canvasation was created in May 2007 by 7 artists exhibiting works at Paul Alexander Gallery (Framingham, MA) in a show curated by William Kerr and filmed by Robert and Yvonne Marra Lamothe. Robert and Yvonne are both exhibiting photographers and painters, while also art educators in the Boston Public Schools. They have been recording and investigating artists’ creative flow for over twenty years.
Groups participating in the Canvasation Project 2008 came from Paul Alexander Gallery, Kingston Gallery, The Art Institute of Boston, Hill House, The Miracle 5, Montserrat College of Art, Boston Public School Teacher Artists, 450 Harrison Avenue Artists, and Gallery XIV.
Artists represented at Gallery XIV include Britt Hennig, Justin Tolentino, Marcus Jansen, Marilyn Ivy, Matt Hosey, Michael Costello, Michael Santini, Narda Boughton, Paul Riedl, Rob Wilstein, Ron English, Rose Abrahamson, Ursula Goeb and Will Kerr.

Gallery XIV represents contemporary artists whose works achieve balance between conceptual, avante-garde, and traditional modes of representation. We aspire to present the most well crafted and articulated contemporary art that challenges both the modern aesthetic and contemporary cultural norms. Gallery XIV is located along the gallery walk in Boston’s SOWA Arts Disctrict, at 37 Thayer Street, in the South End – and presents changing exhibitions that showcase American and International artists.
