Thomas Dane
The Thomas Dane gallery was established in Duke Street, St James’s in March 2004, with an inaugural exhibition featuring the work of contemporary British artist Steve McQueen.
The opening of the gallery was the culmination of over a decade of activity behind the scenes. This has included supporting artists and landmark exhibitions, dealing privately and advising private and corporate clients.
Closely associated at the start with the generation of British artists whose work grew in stature in the 90’s, the Thomas Dane gallery has now developed an expertise and reputation in the international arena.
The aim of the gallery is to present outstanding exhibitions of selected international contemporary artists employing a wide range of media including sculpture, installation, painting, video, film and photography. The programme in 2005 includs exhibitions of new work by Michael Landy, Hurvin Anderson and Albert Oehlen. In addition, the gallery presented an historic exhibition of works by Alexander Calder from the 1940’s, a cineclub programme housed in a site specific installation by Tobias Putrih, and a curated exhibition entitled Translations.
